Description |
HL-1159-G. Black and white watercolor painting of Virginia City railroad. There are two train tracks placed diagonally in the composition and parallel to each other. There are three men walking away along the left track, which has no train on it, unlike the right tracks which has a train approaching. Steam coming from the train signifies movement. There is a church behing the train and to the left. Behind the train and to the right there are buildings higher up on a hill. Everything is snow covered and the men between the tracks are leaving footprints in the snow. Surrounding the image is a pale beige mat board with a black border and a white inner mat. The watercolor is directly on the mat board. A train ticket is in the white border (mat) under the image and reads "Virginia & Truckee Railway" and "Carson City to Reno & Return" as well as "9581". Signature "Lyle V. Ball" in two places: BR and under train in image. Also "A/P" in in the BL of the image. |
