Drawing, charcoal. Portrait of Harris and Lotta Cohn. Object #148-614 depicts Harris and Lotta Schiller (Lottie) Cohn, the parents of Abe Cohn (the patron of the Washoe basket maker Dat-So-La-Lee). Harris Cohn is dressed in a dark grey suit with a black collar, light grey vest, white shirt and grey cravat tie. He is also wearing a silver watch fob. Lottie Cohn in dark grey dress suit with a black trim and white lace collar and sleeve ruffles of blouse showing. She is also wearing a white lace head cap, a light grey belt, silver earrings, necklace and a ring on her right pinky finger. Signature of the artist is visible on the BC section of the drawing. Harris Cohn was from Prussia, 1832 - 1879. Lottie Cohn was from Prussia, 1843 - 1884. They are buried in the Virginia City Hebrew Cemetery. They were married in 1859 and had Abraham Abe Cohn in Placerville, California. Their second child, Hyman Cohn was born in 1861 in Virginia City, Nevada. The artist's signature is bottom center: "M.
