Painting, Oil frontal portrait of Flora Brown Syms, likely a resident of Fallon Nevada, painted by C.B. McClellan in 1882. Information on Flora Brown Syms is scarce and not much is known about her. Her body is facing forward but her head is turned to the right She is painted as having brown hair, dark eyes, and wearing a black dress with a white lace ruffle that's held together with a gold pin. She also wears a necklace of braided gold with a bird and horseshoe pendent hanging from it. She has a drop diamond earring in her left ear. The background color of the portrait fades from a dark grey teal, turquoise in the middle and then to dark brick red as it reaches the bottom. There is a white sticker with a number, 900517 on the back of canvas frame and the picture frame. Also, on the back of the frame written in a black sharpe is Flora Brown Sym's name. |
