Resident and noted rifle marksman of Carson City, Nevada; Civil War veteran; member of the Grand Army of The Republic and the Nevada National Guard. A scrapbook containing newspaper clippings, calling cards, printed materials, and shooting match targets relating chiefly to his participation in rifle shooting contests in Nevada and California as a member of the Nevada National Guard, Company F ("Carson Guard"); his membership (as a Civil War veteran) in the Grand Army of The Republic; and events of the Spanish American War. A carpenter by profession, Wilcox was noted as an expert marksman in Nevada and California, and he was the brother of Zachary Taylor Wilcox (1847-1926), a Carson City resident who was famous for his record-length beard.
