3926. Charcoal drawing by Robert Caples. Native american woman profile portrait. She is facing to the viewer's right. She is wearing a scarf on her head that covers all of her hair except her straight bangs on her forehead. The scarf is folded into a large triangle, is tied under her chin, and hangs loose behind her head. The scarf has a design on it but the rest of her clothing is left "blank" by the artist. The background is also left blank. Signature "RC" on BL. Plum colored mat inside a light brown wood frame. There is a booklet called "The Desert People: A Portfolio of Nevada Indians Robert Caples" Made by the University of Nevada Press-Reno-1970. In the booklet there is a brief history of Roberts life in Reno and his interaction with Native Americans. On the back there is a list of the drawings he did. Unsure of the title. |
